Mississippi Craft Beer Week

Raise Your Pints is proud to announce that Governor Haley Barbour has declared the week of July 24-31 the first ever “Mississippi Craft Beer Week” (MCBW 2010). 
“This is part of what we’ve been working for” says Raise Your Pints President, Butch Bailey. “Our goal is to broaden the appreciation of craft beer for Mississippians and bring better beer to the state.”
Raise Your Pints will be hosting several craft beer events around the state during MCBW 2010 beginning Saturday, July 24 with a Lazy Magnolia Cask Ale Tasting at Keg and Barrel in Hattiesburg and leading up to the Saturday, July 31 Top of the Hops Beer Festival at the Convention Center in downtown Jackson.

Kiln-based Lazy Magnolia, the state’s flagship brewery, will be tapping a single batch, cask-conditioned ale to start the week-long festivities on the 24th at 7pm.  Unfiltered and
unpasteurized, cask-conditioned ales are a throwback to ancient brewing techniques. “Everyone is welcome to attend, so bring a friend,” said Lazy Magnolia representative Sarah Brann. “Pints of this special beer will be limited, so get there early before it runs out.”

Various specials and prizes will be offered at events and there is no admission charge, but supplies may be limited.  Events include but are not limited to:
• 7/24 Keg and Barrel in Hattiesburg at 7pm.  Lazy Magnolia Cask Ale Tasting
• 7/25 The Bulldog in Jackson at 4pm.  Featuring Tallgrass
• 7/26 The Blind Pig in Oxford at 7pm.  Lazy Magnolia Cask Ale Tasting
• 7/26 Mint in Ridgeland at 6pm.  Featuring Tommyknocker
• 7/27 Sal and Mookies in Jackson at 7pm.  Featuring Rouge Brewery
• 7/28 Underground 119 in Jackson at 7pm.  Featuring Atlanta Brewing 
• 7/29 Hal and Mal’s in Jackson at 7pm.  Featuring Diamond Bear 
• 7/31 Convention Center in Jackson at 2pm.  Top of the Hops Beer Festival
