Ryan Balthrop & Jon Cook
Ryan Balthrop draws inspiration from his southern upbringing in Mobile, Alabama, and from his years living and performing in the Eastern Caribbean. His debut album, released in 2011, presents a sophisticated blend of Americana, folk, blues, and a taste of the islands. He has performed over 250 shows a year with various southeastern bands since 1994, as has opened for such acts as: Dr. John, George Porter Jr., Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Wet Willie, Grayson Capps, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Donovan Frankenreiter, Bonerama, St. Paul and the Broken Bones amon gothers. In 2010, Balthrop ventured on his own as a solo artist, performing solo, or with a growing list of talented musicians. "Leap of Faith", the follow up to his self titled debut, was released in September of 2012, and has been met with great response, with reviews from Mobile Press Register, The Birmingham Herald, JamBands Online, The Mullet Wrapper, and Relix Magazine. It has also been featured on the airwaves starting with Mobile's owen WZEW 92.1FM, and has made the playlists of many southeastern college stations, as well as getting aired in the Virgin Islands, Belgium, Denmark, and Germany.
